The Muskegon County Museums has been preserving and interpreting the natural and cultural history
of Muskegon County since 1937.
The Muskegon County Museum welcomes research inquiries regarding archival collection items.
In addition to a diverse collection, the
museum also has staff members that can assist in your research request.
Although the main use of the archival collection supports the Museum's mission of preserving and
interpreting Muskegon's history, researchers are welcome to use the facility as well.
Types of research requests include:
-
Photographs, tax records, plat maps and various directories help
homeowners establish when their house was constructed and the owners
at the time it was built.
-
Records of businesses and organizations trace the individuals
that operated them, the products they produced and the location of
their operations.
- Family Research.
-
Over 10,000 photographs also detail the events and people of
Muskegon County and are a great tool for research.
-
Aerial views and plat maps assist environmentalists in determining
the historical use and changes made to designated properties.
